Job Title: Volunteer Finance Assistant
Location: The MAZI Project
Reports To: Treasurer and Managing Director (MD)
Hours: 3-4 hours per week (Can be online or remote)

 

Job Overview

The MAZI Project is looking for a Volunteer Finance Assistant to support our mission of empowering vulnerable young people by nurturing their confidence and potential through food. You will play a vital role in maintaining financial efficiency and transparency, helping us sustain our impactful programs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoice and Payment Management: Process, track, and pay invoices to keep financial operations running smoothly.
  • Bookkeeping: Record transactions and support accurate account management for transparent financial reporting.
  • Budget Support: Assist in budgeting and spending analysis, helping to optimize resources for maximum impact.
  • Collaboration:Work with the Treasurer and MD to strengthen our finance model and support the sustainability of our programs for young people.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: A background in finance, accounting, or a related field, with at least some formal finance or bookkeeping training (or relevant experience in a similar role).
  • Experience: Prior experience with bookkeeping, accounts management, or financial administration, ideally within the nonprofit or charity sector.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to analyze financial data and create actionable insights.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Passion for supporting a meaningful cause and contributing to the sustainability of nonprofit organizations.
