Our Work
By delivering recipe kits and cooking workshops, we use the notion of the dinner table and breaking bread, to reduce isolation, build confidence and make those in need feel cared for and extraordinary
At a future-defining age we believe we should be nurturing and empowering victims of domestic abuse, asylum seekers, care leavers and youth recovering from homelessness. Most have faced family breakdowns, war, struggle with mental and physical health, PTSD, sexual exploitation, poverty and often the feeling of isolation and loneliness.
Combining this malnourished diet with their day to day challenges can have a heavy impact on their education, employment and health in the long term. This vicious cycle can make young people feel worthless and not cared for, pushing them further into a destructive lifestyle.
Well, it’s time we showed we cared.
aMAZIng Meal Kits
Through our recipe meal kits, we want to share the joy of food and the dignity of choice with young people suffering from food insecurity.
Every Tuesday, The MAZI Project delivers aMAZIng Meal Kits to 75 young people in need around the city.
Our MAZI Meal Boxes provide choice, control, confidence and consistency. Youth Voice (2019) identified these as four of the five pillars to help develop strength, resilience and aspirations for vulnerable young people.
Our boxes contain
Up to THREE recipes: The young people we work with receive a text with a large menu of tasty, seasonal meals; it is up to them to CHOOSE which meals they would like to cook themselves each week.
Simple to follow recipe cards: The recipes are provided by some of Bristol’s best restaurants and chefs, as well as from our own MAZI kitchen.
Ingredients: All fresh ingredients have been locally sourced and our dry ingredients are pre-weighed and measured to make cooking easy and pleasurable.
Sweet treat: A tasty sweet treat baked by our very own MAZI Baker or from local independent bakeries and delis.

aMAZIng cooking workshops
As part of creating long term change for those we support, we use our growing network of independent businesses to connect them with employment opportunities across the hospitality sector.
We also run aMAZIng Pop Ups which are fundraisers run by our aMAZIng young people whom we pair with a mentor and split the profits with. Giving them the chance to showcase their talent and passion for cooking.
"There was something special about the evening, the event created a sense of community amongst young people, mentors, Mel, Ben & Mama Cleo, something we are keen to continue to do. Thank you all"
