About The MAZI Project:

The MAZI Project empowers marginalised 16-25-year-olds through food. We support care leavers, young young asylum seekers, youth recovering from homelessness and fleeing domestic violence. We do this by improving access to healthy food, better food education and employment opportunities.

 

Role Summary:

The Safeguarding Lead will ensure the safety and well-being of all young people involved with The MAZI Project. This voluntary position requires a commitment of 5 hours per month, with travel and other necessary expenses covered.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safeguarding training for staff and volunteers.
  • Monitor and review safeguarding practices to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns.
  • Liaise with external agencies as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a safeguarding role, preferably within a youth or community setting.
  • Strong knowledge of current safeguarding legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Commitment to The MAZI Project’s values and mission.
