About The MAZI Project
The MAZI Project empowers marginalised 16-25-year-olds through food. We support care leavers, young asylum seekers, youth recovering from homelessness and fleeing domestic violence. We achieve this by improving access to healthy food, enhancing food education, and creating employment opportunities.
Role Summary
The Safeguarding Lead will ensure the safety and well-being of all young people involved with The MAZI Project. This voluntary position requires a commitment of 5 hours per month, with ad hoc support provided as needed in the event of an incident.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns.
- Further develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Monitor and review safeguarding practices to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with external organisations and agencies as necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience in a safeguarding role with marginalised young people aged between 16 and 25 or beyond.
- Strong knowledge of current safeguarding legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Commitment to The MAZI Project’s values and mission.
